The 110 hours are divided in two parts. The first part is the two-hour a week of in-class time. Completing the two-hours a week of in-class time will earn the student 90 hours of the 110 required hours. The second part is comprised of our Shabbatons and retreats by completing this part of the program the student will earn the additional 20 hours in hands on applied study.
Torah 4 Teens has developed an exciting curriculum based on the Bible. The course covers a range of topics such as G-d and creation, kosher food and it’s effects, being Jewish in modern times, and more. The curriculum is enriched with biblical commentaries, Jewish mysticism and Kabbala. Classes are held once a week and are divided into two separate fifty five minute periods.
Please note: The hours you receive for participating in field trips and or educational retreats are for the educational content included in the program. The additional non-educational hours of extra fun or leisure are not counted toward the 110 required hours. Alternatively students may choose to complete an Independent Study Project (ISP). Both options fulfill the 20 hours. A combination of the two options is also available. This can be dealt with on a one-by-one basis during the school year.
Quizzes will be given, and note taking will be marked to assess comprehension and participation. Mid-term and final exam or projects will be given as well to meet Ministry credit requirements.
