Course Description 

CLASSES
The in-class program includes courses such as Bible, Hebrew studies and Jewish philosophy (see course description). The courses are offered to four different grade levels. The lessons are delivered in 50-minute segments and have a 10-minute break before every lesson.
COURSE COMPLETION
Successfully completing the full program (4 grade levels) of Bible study or other courses, the student is eligible for a Jewish studies certificate from the school, high school and/or pre-university credits ("M" or “U” credit).
COURSE DESCRIPTION | BIBLE
This course provides a foundation for the study of Bible at a high school level and through it, an attachment of the student to their heritage.  As a basic text of belief and tradition, the study of Bible translated in English from the original Hebrew language teaches the student to appreciate the history, culture and traditions contained there in.Bible study is also basic to implementing Torah 4 Teens mission statement “to promote Jewish awareness, identity and pride amongst Jewish youth that will help them grow to appreciate and understand their Jewish heritage, culture and tradition”.For proper understanding of the Bible’s influence on Jewish thought and practice, it is important for students to be able to access the classical text translated from their original form.  This is developed over a student’s experience in Torah 4 Teens, through this fundamental course.

GRADE 9 COURSE | BIBLE
COURSE CODE - HRE13
The grade 9, entry-level course has as its primary focus on the study of the Biblical text of the Book of Exodus. As the main topic is the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt, an event celebrated by the Jewish community annually at the Passover Seder, text used at the Passover Seder would be included for study along with the biblical narrative.
GRADE 10 COURSE | BIBLE
COURSE CODE - HRE23
The grade 10 level course has its primary focus on the study of the Biblical text of the Book of Numbers.  The main topic is the development and growth of the Israelites from tribes to nationhood.
GRADE 11 COURSE | BIBLE
COURSE CODE -  HRE33
The grade 11 level course has as its primary focus on the study of the biblical text of the Book of Leviticus.  In Leviticus, the focus is on the relationship of the Children of Israel with G-d and their fellow man as seen through the commandments.
GRADE 11  COURSE | PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy Course Description: The Big Question Provides students with an opportunity to discuss some of the great questions of our age such as: What defines good music? What is art? Is beauty really in the eyes of the beholder? Should the bicentennial man be considered a person? What makes your life meaningful? Students develop inquiry and critical analysis skills, enabling them to tackle these and many other questions This course develops student research skills and assist them in becoming stronger logical thinkers. The course engages student’s interests and challenges them to think about the world in a new light.

The main objective of this course is to enrich the student's Hebrew vocabulary, facility of expression, and basic understanding of Jewish life cycle events, history and tradition. Other objectives are: Literary themes include the individual and the society, Hasidic tales, Haskalah poetry and articles.  Students also study the language and the structure of an essay.  An abridged novel is read and discussed.  Current events are analyzed through articles from the newspaper and the Internet.  This course is based on the book of Leviticus (Vayikra)  and is used as its guideline for the Hebrew language and Jewish life cycle classes.
GRADE 12 COURSE | INTL. LANGUAGE
COURSE CODE - LYHDU (Pre-requisite LYHCU)
The main objective of this course is to enrich the student's Hebrew vocabulary, facility of expression, and basic understanding of Jewish life cycle events, history and tradition. Other objectives are: knowledge of Jewish affairs with a focus on Israel; a deeper understanding of Jewish holiday traditions, observances and history. This course is on the book of Genesis (Berieshit) and is used as its guideline for the Hebrew language and Jewish life cycle classes.

COURSE CODE - HRE43
The grade 12 level course has its primary focus on the study of the biblical text of the Book of Genesis. The main topics covered in the course are the creation of the world, the flood and the History of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs.
COURSE DISCRIPTION | PHILOSOPHY
COURSE CODE - HZT4U
This pre-university course addresses three (out of six) of the main areas of philosophy: metaphysics, logic, epistemology, ethics, social and political philosophy, and aesthetics. Students will learn critical-thinking skills, the main ideas expressed in philosophy from a Jewish perspective, how to develop and explain their own philosophical ideas, and how to apply those ideas to contemporary social issues and personal experiences. The course will also help students refine skills used in researching and investigating topics in philosophy.
Pre-requisite HZB3O or any University / College preparation course in social sciences or humanities, English or Canadian and world studies.
