Our Staff

CYN Hebrew School prides itself in our staff.  Staff members are imbued with a desire to impart their love and knowledge of Judaism to their students.  Recognizing that Hebrew School is an academic after-school program in addition to their regular school hours, our teachers endeavor to create an engaging program that keeps the interest of the child.

Our Hebrew School director, Mrs. Chani Nachlas, has years of experience teaching and directing Hebrew Schools and Youth programs.  Her extensive experience with children and adults alike make her a valuable asset to our Hebrew School.

Grade 4-5 - Morah Nechami Ostfeld - Assistant Stephanie Benitah

My name is Nechami  Ostfeld and I have taught at  CYN Hebrew School for the past three years, specifically directing and tutoring children in the Aleph Champ program. I have enjoyed  running various extra-curricular programs for children, and working one-on-one with physically challenged youngsters in the Friendship Circle Group. I am currently the Program Director for CYN’s Teens For the Community program. I would describe myself as an ambitious and motivated person and I look forward to teaching your children at Hebrew School this year!

Grade 2-3 - Morah  Raizy Erdvin & Assistant Dekkel Bachar

Hi, my name is Raizy Erdvin and I am so excited to be joining CYN for my 4th year as a teacher. I am currently a student myself, studying at York University, majoring in Kinesiology. I have had the opportunity to work with children all over Ontario, several parts of the US, and Israel. I plan on creating a class atmosphere that is fun, enjoyable and conducive to learning, through interactive lessons and hands-on activities. My ultimate goal is that your child learns about their Jewish heritage in a comfortable and accessible environment while shedding a positive light on its rich culture. I look forward to an incredible year ahead.

Grade SK-1 - Morah Chaya Rosenfeld

Hi! My name is Chaya Rosenfeld. I’m looking forward to a fantastic year as a teacher at CYN Hebrew School! I taught JK- 1 at a Hebrew School in Michigan this past year and ran children’s Shabbat programs for the past 5 years. I also worked for the Friendship Circle of MI as well as taught 7th and 8th Grade. I am currently teaching 6th Grade at a Jewish private school in Toronto. I can’t wait to have a year full of fun and learning with your children!
